I Ditched Chemical Scents for Real Plant Oils. My Honest Verdict After 60 Days.

I've tried at least 20 ways to scent my home. Every one was either too weak or overbearing and toxic. I was convinced this would be another failure, but I couldn't have been more wrong

NOTE: If you can't stand overbearing and toxic scents but won't settle for weak alternatives, this is worth reading.

Lisa is a home environment researcher and product testing specialist with over a decade of experience evaluating air quality, scent delivery, and household wellness products. She has reviewed more than 40 home devices across domestic settings.

I ditched toxic products for so many reasons. Feeling nauseous. Constant migraines. A scratchy throat that never went away. My doctor didn't have a clue what to do with me.

So I did my own research and figured it out the hard way: my scent products were full of harsh chemicals that my body just couldn't handle, let alone the endocrine disruptors. They had to go.

The problem was, my home didn't feel like a home anymore. It was bland, boring and uninviting. Not somewhere I wanted my kids and grandkids to visit me.

After an EXTENSIVE rabbit hole of beeswax candles, simmer pots and everything in between, and getting nowhere, I stumbled across the Bloom, which uses real plant oils. So I thought I'd share my honest experience of making the switch.

1. Endocrine disruptors finally leave your system

The reeds, the candles, all of it were endocrine disruptors. I stood in my kitchen reading the back of a plug-in refill, and every label just said "fragrance". I instantly felt dread. I wasn't in control of my own health anymore; it was in the hands of plug-ins and sprays.

Luckily, they leave your system within a few days. They're only in your system while the products stick around.

So I bagged up every candle, reed and plug-in in one afternoon. 20 so-called "solutions" later, they were either too weak or not truly natural. Then a friend mentioned the Bloom, which uses real essential oils. Let's just say my curiosity was sparked. And no, it's not diluted with a bunch of water. This is 100% oil dispersed into your home. It's the first thing I've tried that actually scents my home with a heavenly, continuous and subtle scent.

No phthalates. No parabens. No "fragrance".

2. The Bloom replaces 6 reed diffusers

Not only do the scents smell beautiful in their truest form, but I finally got rid of the chemical scents for good. The Bloom takes the pure oil and breaks it into micro particles so fine they drift up into every corner of your home. It fills up to 1,000 sq ft, which is my entire floor. (If you have 2 floors, get 2 or 3.)

I'll admit, the first day I wasn't sure. It's not in your face like a candle. But the next morning I walked downstairs, and there was this subtle smell of fresh orange peel that had gone through the entire floor. The hallway, the kitchen, even the laundry room. It was just there, all day.

It doesn't stick to your furniture, and it really is a one-tap-and-go type of product.

Something I really didn't expect is that it actually saves me money. I used to have 6 reed diffusers around the house, and every one of them needed replacing about once a month. That's 6 new reeds, every single month. Now it's one 30ml bottle of oil per Bloom, and that one blend lasts me the entire month. It's an investment that, for me, is worth every penny.

3. No more pounding headaches

I struggle with overpowering scents; they're behind almost all of my pounding headaches. When I go out and there are artificial scents filling every room, it makes me gag.

I used to dread coming home to that stale, nothing smell. Now it's become my safe haven, and I don't want to leave.

When the Bloom is on, it scents every corner of my home with real lavender, or some days fresh grapefruit and sea salt with hints of crisp bergamot. It fills me with so much joy smelling something natural and beautiful, while being in control of what goes in my body.

4. You get real benefits from the oil

This wasn't why I bought it in the first place, but I can really tell a big difference. I switch it to lavender around 6pm and sit down with my coffee. It's become my little ritual. I feel an immense amount of peace. Just breathing in that lavender calms me down, and it's made me feel better day to day.

Downstairs I run Grapefruit & Sea Salt with hints of bergamot, and it fills my home with something refreshing and alive. It seems small, but it's a really nice change from the pounding headaches.

5. Every ingredient is right there on the bottle

The first thing I did when my Bloom arrived was turn the oil bottle over and read the label. Sweet orange. Cedarwood. Patchouli. Frankincense. Neroli. That's it. Real plants I could actually name.

Compare that to the candles and sprays I used to buy, where the label just said "fragrance" and I had no idea what I was breathing in.

It's safe to say I will never be going down those aisles ever again.

6. Try it for 60 days in your own home

I've been let down by "natural" products before, so the 60-day trial made this an easy yes. You can try it in your own home, and if it doesn't work out, just send it back and go back to whatever you were using before.

My home finally smells the way I always wanted it to, and I'm never going back to chemical scents. For me, it's a worthy investment and more than worth the 60-day trial.

Right now they're running 50% off their essential oils for a limited time.

Before you buy: the questions I had (and my honest answers)
I'll be honest, I almost didn't buy this because I'd seen too many "natural" solutions that were either weak or just more chemicals in nicer packaging. So here's everything I wanted to know before I tried it.

"Is it really 100% essential oil?" +

This was my first question. I turned the bottle over the day it arrived: sweet orange, cedarwood, patchouli, frankincense, neroli. That's it. No water, no fillers, and no "fragrance". Every plant is listed right there.

"Why not just buy a cheap diffuser on Amazon?" +

I tried them. So many of them. They were all too faint, and the scent just dropped around the diffuser instead of reaching the rest of the room. What I didn't realise is that most of them are actually made for artificial scents, not pure natural oils. The Bloom is made for pure plant oil, which is why it fills my whole floor instead of one corner.

"Can I cancel the oil subscription?" +

Yes, anytime. I checked before I signed up. And you don't need to take the subscription, but you save $16/30ml bottle when you subscribe.

"Will it be too strong?" +

This was my biggest worry, because I can't stand overpowering scents. It isn't. It's soft and it's there all day, in every room, without ever being in your face. Just perfect.

"How long does a bottle last?" +

One 30ml bottle lasts me about a month. That's one bottle, versus the 6 reed diffusers I used to replace every month.
